Hello Everyone!
Welcome to my Crafty Corner. I have completed the AECP Level One Classes. This is my final blog post for this part of the program. Bring on the Level One Challenge!
Today I am sharing cards I created for Altenew Academy's class "Irresistible Inking Techniques" offered by Sara Naumann. In this class, Sara demonstrates several clever and interesting ways to use ink pads in our card making designs.
Here is the card I am presenting today.
I very much enjoyed this class as Sara demonstrated many techniques that reminded me ink pads are one of the most versatile tools in the craft room.
I used ink pads to water color, direct to paper edging and applying the ink with a brayer.
Supply List
Altenew Peony and Lilac Swag Stamp and Die set
Altenew Royal Brocade Embossing Folder
Altenew Hot Press Water Color Paper
Altenew Fine Water Color Brush #4
Altenew Crystal Clear Gem Sparkles
Altenew Antique Gold Pigment Ink
Altenew Fresh Dye Inks: Blue Horizon, Lemonade Stand, Blush Rose
Altenew Stamp Wheel & Ultra Sticky Mat
Black Stamping Ink
Clear Shimmer pen
Brayer
Black Cardstock - 4 1/4 x 5 1/2" Panel
A2 Card Base
White Fine Tip Posca Pen
Emboss the black cardstock panel with the Royal Brocade Embossing folder. Roll the ink brayer over the gold ink pad. Lightly apply the gold ink to the embossed panel, catching the raised areas. Swipe the ink pad direct to paper around the edges of the panel to create a nice finished look.
Adhere the black panel to the card base.
Using he stamp wheel, stamp the focal image onto the watercolor paper with the gold ink. Altenew's Antique Gold Ink looks stunning when used with watercolor. It is important to note that this ink is water resistant. It also adds a no line look to the finished piece.
Smush the three ink pads onto a surface that can be used to watercolor. I used my Tim Holtz Glass Mat. A plate or acetate packaging would also work for this technique.
Watercolor the flowers as shown with the #4 brush using the wet on wet technique. Apply water to a petal and drop the color in. Let the water do the work for you. Work around the image so that each petal dries prior to working on adjacent petals.
To watercolor the leaves, mix the blue and yellow inks as they make a beautiful green. Paint all the leaves using the wet on wet technique.
Trim the image to create a pleasing design to the card front. Stamp the sentiment on to the left over watercolor paper, die cut and add to the card.
Add shimmer to the flowers and add gems to complete the card.
Thank you for stopping by. I hope you like the card.

Another gorgeous creation!!
