Hello Everyone!
Welcome to my Crafty Corner.
Today's card is inspired by Altenew Academy's "With A Twist" class, offered by Therese Calvrid. In this class, Therese showed us how to stretch our supplies by using them in unique ways.
I have been following Therese on utube for years. I was happy to see her class incorporated into the ACEP program.
The card was quick and easy to make. Therese made me think "what if".....
Supply List
Altenew: Vintage Roses Stamp Set; Card stock - Dew Drops, Aqualicious and Brushed Gold: Scripty Sentiment Die Set; Sticky Mat
Altenew Fresh Dye Inks: Dew Drops and Aqualicious
From my stash: Versamark Ink Pad, Gold Embossing Powder, Stamp Blocks , heat tool
Tips
- Use a well loved and used stamp set
- A layering stamp set would be a good choice
- Reference projects where the stamp set was used
- Then, use it in a different way - think "same but different"
I featured the Vintage Roses Stamp Set in the first two Level One AECP classes, All About Layering 3 and 4. I looked at the cards and thought about how I could use the stamp set differently...with a twist!
Instructions
My goal here was to keep the card simple, but maintain the integrity of the stamp set. I wanted to look at the finished card and recognize the stamp set.
The "twist"? I stamped the images differently than intended. I was not aiming for perfection, but for a more whimsical vibe, Rather than stamping the last detail image in a dark color, I opted to add gold embossing for a different look.
I decided to create a one layer, monochromatic background with touches of gold.
- trim dew drops cardstock to 4 x 5 1/4" panel
- choose 4 layer image, but only use the 3 detail images
- stamp first image with Dew Drops
- stamp the second image with Aqualicious
- stamp the third image with Versamark, apply gold embossing powder and melt
- stamp the leaf image with Aqualicious
- stamp the overlay leaf image with versamark, apply gold embossing powder and melt.
- die cut the sentiment from brushed gold c/s; the shadow from aqualicious c/s
- trim a small strip from the gold c/s, add to panel
- adhere the sentiment
Tips
As I was wrapping up this blog post, the thought of "what if" was running through my mind.
I love embossing folders, however until now, I have only used them separately.
I have seen others demonstrate this technique and decided to give it a try.
Here is the result. Can you guess which embossing folders I used to make this card?
I had a lot of fun with the "twist" concept and will definitely incorporate this into future cardmaking.
Thank you for stopping by. I hope I inspired you to create something new and different with your supplies.
Both the cards are absolutely FANTABULOUS!
ReplyDeleteThank you Erum. I had alot of fun making these cards.
