Hello Everyone!
Welcome to my Crafty Corner.
Today I am sharing cards I created for Altenew Academy's class "Let it Shine" offered by Carissa Wiley. In this class, Carissa shows us many ways to add sparkle and shine to our card designs. It it sparkles and shines, count me in!
Here are the cards I am presenting today.
Card #1
Carissa reminded me of a coloring technique that I love and should utilize more often: watercolor with sparkle pens. Any clear sparkle pen will work with this technique. I have Wink of Stella, Nuovo and Spectrum Noir clear sparkle in my stash. I use my sparkle pens a lot, but I forgot that they can be used to watercolor with in place of a water brush. This is a must try technique!
Supplies:
Altenew Peony & Lilac Swag Stamp and Die Set
Altenew Scripty Sentiments Die Set
Altenew Clear Enamel Dots
Altenew Hot Press Watercolor Paper
Altenew Brushed Gold Cardstock
Altenew Lemonade Stand Fresh Die Ink
Altenew Medium Ink Blending Brush
Altenew Stamp Wheel
Gold Embossing Powder
Versamark Ink
Zig Clean Color Water Based Markers
Size A2 Card Base
Neenah Solar White Cardstock
Anti Static powder tool
Heat Embossing Tool
Trim white cardstock to A2 Size panel. With the blending tool, start in the upper right corner of the panel and blend the Lemonade Stand Ink diagonally. Create an ombre look with the darkest color saturation in the upper right and blend progressively lighter with the bottom corner remaining white.
Die Cut the floral image from watercolor paper and place on the sticky mat/stamp wheel. Apply anti static powder, stamp the floral image with versamark, remove the die cut from the sticky mat, apply the gold embossing powder and melt with the heat tool.
Place the die back onto the sticky mat and start coloring. Working one petal at a time, apply the zig marker to the area that you want dark and use the sparkle pen like you would use a water brush and pull the color out to create varying color values. Remember the darker areas will be where two points meet and where one image overlaps another to create dimension. Let each layer dry before adding more color. I colored each color with the two markers, light and dark. Color each petal differently and keep the paper white where you want high lights. Most importantly, have fun and let the "sparkly water pen do the work".
Adhere the colored image to the card and trim off the excess. Die cut the sentiment with gold cardstock and white cardstock. Glue the gold to the white to add stability and dimension.
This technique adds just the right amount of sparkle to a project and it is so easy to do.
Card #2
Chocolate and Flowers, yes please! I created this card with the Altenew Craft your Life Chocolate Flowers Project Kit. Oh My Goodness, this kit offers so many creative possibilities. Today, I will contain myself to only one card.
Supplies:
Altenew Dazzling Diamond Glitter Cardstock - 8 1/2 x 11"
Altenew Zero Waste Chocolate Flowers Die
Altenew Zero Waste Chocolate Flowers Stencil Set
Altenew Chocolate Flowers Background Stamp Set
Altenew Choco Hazelnut Enamel Dots
Altenew Carnival Magic Fresh Dye Ink Cube Set
Altenew Delectable Delights Fresh Dye Ink Cube Set
Altenew Tranquility Fresh Dye Ink
Altenew Ultra Sticky Mat
Altenew Mini Blending Tools
Neenah Solar White
A2 Card Base
Trim white cardstock to Size A2 and stamp the flowers and dots stamp with Milk Chocolate Dye Ink. Stamp the sentiment with the same ink, cut and put both aside.
Trim glitter cardstock to 6" x 6". Die cut with the zero waste flowers die. Since the paper is thick, the dies will cut out, but stay in the die until manually removed. Place the die onto the sticky mat and carefully remove the die cut panel from the die so it releases in "one piece" onto the sticky mat.
Here comes the fun part. Since dye inks are transparent, they color beautifully on the glitter cardstock. The effect is stunning.
Using the coordinating stencils, color the large flowers with the red inks, the leaves and stars with the brown inks and the small flowers with the blue inks. Vary the colors on each element to create dimension.
Assemble the flowers and add small enamel dots to the middle of each flower.
Adhere the white panel to the card base, arrange the flowers and leaves, add sentiment and more chocolate dots.
Thank you for stopping by today. I hope you like the cards.

Absolute beauties!
