Altenew Educator Certification Program: Season Scene Building

Hello Everyone!

Welcome to my Crafty Corner.

Today I am sharing cards I created for Altenew Academy's class "Season Scene Building" offered by Nicole (Magouirk) Spohr. In this class, Nicole demonstrates many creative ways to create scene cards.

Here is the card I am presenting today.

I purchased Altenew's Rose Garden Birdhouse stencil, die and embossing folder set awhile ago.  This class presented the perfect opportunity to create a scene card.

Supply List

Altenew Stamp Wheel/Sticky Mat

Altenew Rose Garden Birdhouse Stencil, Die and 3D Embossing Set

Altenew Scripty Sentiments Die Set

Altenew Deck Planks 3D Embossing Folder

Altenew Inks:  Blue Horizon, Honeydew Glow, Carnival Magic Cube Set, Warm Gray Cube Set

Altenew Small and Mini Ink Blending Tools

LDRS Arches Dies and Spotlight Stencils

Cloud Stencil

Neenah Solar White 80lb cardstock

Nuvo Clear Shimmer pen

A2 card base

Foam Tape

Trim three A2 size panels with the Neenah Cardstock and emboss the birdhouse and the wood plank 3D embossing folders.  Set the birdhouse panel aside. Leave the third panel plain and set aside.

Using the wood plank embossed panel, center the arch die and cut. Put the center piece aside for a future project.

Next, using the direct to paper ink application technique, swipe Morning Frost Gray ink across the image to bring out the wood grain detail.

Bring out the Stampwheel/Sticky mat and center the plain panel on the sticky mat. Ink blend the clouds with Blue Horizon Ink, small blending tool and the cloud stencil.

Adhere the panel to the A2 Card Base.

Bring out the Birdhouse Embossed Panel and center on the sticky mat.  I used the stencils out of order  - Birdhouse, Leaves, Roses last.  Since we are ink blending an embossed image on white cardstock, it was easier for me to create the birdhouse first as it offered me a visual guide for the florals and leaves.  I used the mini ink blending brushes to add color to the image.

Birdhouse Base - Ink Blend with Morning Frost, The trim in front and on top, use Evening Gray and the details use Moon Rock.

Leaves - Use Honeydew Glow to ink blend the leaves.  Then use Blue Horizon to ink over all the leaves to create various values of green leaves.  I use this ink combo frequently to create as it is easy to create light, medium and dark values.

Rose Flowers - Ink blend with the layering stencils from light to dark...Cotton Candy, Coral Red and Sweet Cherry.

Die cut the birdhouse image and adhere to the cloud panel.

Adhere foam tape to the back of the woodgrain panel and adhere to the card.

Die cut the sentiment three times with white cardstock.  Adhere the layers to each other and to the card.  This technique adds stability and dimension to the sentiment.

Finish the card with the crystal clear enamel dots.

Thank you for stopping by today.
