Altenew Educator Certification Program: For The Guys

Hello Everyone!

Welcome to my Crafty Corner.

Today I am sharing cards I created for Altenew Academy's class "For The Guys" offered by Jennifer Rzasa .  In this class, Jennifer shows us how to stretch our supplies to make several masculine cards.

Here are the cards I am presenting today.

I used the same products to create both cards.  Why do they look different? I made the first card and did not clean the stencil prior to making the second card. Dye ink typically doesn't dry on non porous surfaces.  The results can be quite unexpected.

Supply List

Altenew Live in the Moment Mini Delight Stamp/Die set.

Altenew Enchanted Castle 3D embossing folder and Matching Stencil Set

Altenew Blue Horizon Fresh Dye Ink

Altenew Warn Gray Fresh Dye Ink - set of 4 cubes

Altenew Ultra Sticky mat

Altenew Brushed Gold Cardstock

Neenah Solar White Paper

Vellum

Turquoise Alcohol Ink

Vellum

Gold metallic pearl gems

A2 Card Bases

Card #1

Cut two A2 size panels using Neenah solar white and emboss with the Enchanted Garden Embossing Folder.  Center the panels so the window is in the center. Put one panel aside for card #2.

The stencil set is very easy to use as the panels are numbered and a layering guide is included.

Place the embossed panel on the sticky mat, line up each stencil and ink blend each panel with a different gray ink - stencils 1-4. Use the Blue Horizon Ink to ink blend stencil #5.

Using a craft knife, I cut a door as pictured. Then I cut a piece of NSW cardstock larger than the opening.  Lightly ink blend with the blue ink, stamp the floral image (MD live in the moment) with Moon Rock Gray Ink.  Die cut the clock parts as pictured.  The clock base is white paper colored with the Lava Rock Gray ink and  clock face is NSW paper. Stamp the clock face with Lava Rock ink and adhere clock to the panel.  Stamp the sentiment with Moon Rock ink. Adhere the panel to the embossed panel.  Pop up the panel with dimensional foam tape and adhered to card base.

Card #2

Place embossed panel #2 onto the sticky mat. Using the "dirty stencils", ink blend the panel using Evening Gray, Moon Rock, and Lava Rock.  I didn't use the inks in any particular order, but I did use all 5 stencils.  This technique created "new" shades of the gray inks. Then, I applied the Horizon Blue Ink.  The gray ink on the stencil muted the color beautifully.

Next, use a craft knife to cut the rectangle center out of the panel. Assemble the clock face and gold rim.  Stamp the sentiment.

Cut a piece of Vellum larger than the opening in the panel. Apply turquoise alcohol ink to panel and adhere to the back of the embossed panel. Adhere the clock, sentiment and gems. I did not use dimensional foam tape, but you could and it would look very nice.

Thank you for stopping by.  I hope you like the cards.  This embossing folder offers so many creative possibilities.  It is truly one of my favorites.
